Protect the Future

Cause and effect

The design of this intersection will help determine the future of thousands of acres of land. The current bridge plan tremendously limits future options for what this area could be decades from now.

Suburban Sprawl

Without any changes, the entire corridor has been put on a path to a suburban-sprawl style design, which would likely yield scattered development, primarily limited to fast food establishments, butler buildings and gas stations.

More options for a better future

There are other access options that will allow farmers to keep using their land, improve access and safety for everyone using Highway 20, and allow for a carefully planned development that truly meets the needs of Decatur in the future, including high quality housing, offices or shopping.

Protect the Future

The current proposed design puts the corridor on a path toward scattered development, primarily limited to gas stations, fast food establishments, and light manufacturing and industrial uses.

Mixed Use Development

A better design that improves access and safety for all users of Highway 20 would allow for a carefully planned development that truly meets the needs of Decatur in the future, including high quality housing, offices or shopping.
